Folio, a New Forest District Council Conservative-led initiative, are hosting a free networking event for New Forest based creative and cultural professionals on Friday 20 January from 10am to 12pm at Hanger Farm Arts Centre, Totton.
The event aims to bring together creative professionals from across the district and provide them with an engaging and inspiring environment to network. The event is organised by Folio, which is a collective of arts and culture organisations and professionals, led by New Forest District Council.
This includes organisations such as St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery, Forest Forge Theatre Company, Coda Music Trust, hArt, Hanger Farm Arts Centre, Forest Arts Centre, Spud, African Activities, River Studios, New Forest Heritage Centre, The National Motor Museum Trust, and The New Forest National Park Authority.
The event will offer attendees the chance to network over coffee, and includes a talk from John Holmes of Flying Geese, a consultancy company which researches and reports on local arts and cultural community engagement data. John has been working with New Forest partners to gather data on local community engagement within arts and culture and will be sharing his latest insights during his talk, and will be happy to answer any questions.
Cllr David Russell, Conservative Portfolio Holder for People and Places, said: "This free networking event is a great way for likeminded creative professionals to meet, share ideas and discuss the many fantastic artistic and cultural opportunities available to them within the New Forest. It is wonderful to support our valuable creative community in this way and I look forward to seeing it continue to thrive."
In October 2022, Folio hosted their first networking event in Exbury, which was attended by over 60 local creatives.
The event provided those attending the chance to learn about Folio's growing cultural network and the New Forest based Culture in Common project, and how they could get involved in upcoming opportunities, and it is hoped that the upcoming networking event will provide equal value to the creative community.
