On Thursday 7 May 2015 elections will be held for Members of Parliament, New Forest District Council and Parish and Town Councils in New Forest District.
In order to vote, you must be included on the electoral register. The deadline for registering to vote at the 7 May elections is Monday 20 April 2015. If you are not on the register of electors, please go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote to register. The process is quick and simple. You will need your national insurance number and date of birth, so please have these to hand before you log on. If you do not have access to the internet, telephone Electoral Services (again with your national insurance number and date of birth) and we shall register you. If you prefer, we can send you a paper registration form.
If you are due to be away on election day, or if you would find it more convenient, you may apply to vote by post. Completed applications must be received by no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday 21 April 2015 but please apply as early as possible. Postal votes will be despatched by first class post on Tuesday 21 April 2015 and should be received by voters on 22/23 April. If you will not be at home then, we can send your postal voting pack to an away address, but if you will be out of the UK there might not be enough time for you to receive and return it by the deadline - which is 10.00 p.m. on voting day, Thursday 7 May 2015.
If you will be abroad, you may wish to appoint a proxy (someone who may vote on your behalf). Your proxy may also choose to vote by post.
