Construction is now underway on a new modern development that will provide 50 homes for people aged over 55 with a care need in New Milton.
To mark this important milestone, Hampshire County Council and partners - Places for People Living Plus, Lovell Later Living, New Forest District Council and Morgan Sindall Construction gathered recently at the scheme - Wooldridge View - for a traditional ‘turf cutting’ ceremony.
Hampshire County Council’s Conservative Executive Member for Adult Services and Public Health, Councillor Liz Fairhurst, said: “This fantastic new scheme is the latest addition to our £45 million investment in Extra Care accommodation across Hampshire, and comes hot on the heels of the recently completed Nightingale Lodge in Romsey. Designed to ensure the housing needs and aspirations of our growing older population can be met, Extra Care provides people with their own front door but with the full benefits of neighbourly living.”
Wooldridge View, located in the Forest Pines area of New Milton is the latest Extra Care collaboration between the County Council, district and borough councils, social housing landlords and key construction partners, offering modern apartments with 24-hour on-site care commissioned by the County Council, but where residents are able to retain their independence.
